Located in the basement of the Chrysler House, Pophouse’s space originated from the bank vaults of the former Dime Bank. Instead of removing existing features, Pophouse capitalized on deteriorated remains in the basement. Original flooring, exposed concrete columns, and ornate ceiling trim was left intact. Brass gates and mechanical steel doors guide you into the vault conference rooms. Inspired by A Space Odyssey, the modern vault is an all-white room with writeable puzzle piece walls. In contrast, the Vintage Vault is surrounded by brass safety deposit boxes and includes crystal chandeliers and tufted leather antique lounge pieces. A large huddle space called “The Pit” incorporates stadium seating made with reclaimed wood salvaged from Detroit homes.
